Corraun Diary 11); the Welcome Home Festival 2003
In August 2003 Al and Jane, our friends in nearby Currane, had been hard at work renovating their pub for a very special occasion: the Welcome Home Festival. As Jane wrote in her diary: 'The bar has been redecorated, the new toilets are finished and the festival has started. There's a wonderful atmosphere in the village and people with roots in Currane have travelled from far and wide to be here'.

Looks like a great party! How long did it take to clear up the empties?
There was a whole week of parties and the weather was great. Sometimes, when I'm wandering around outside, I find a glass tucked under a hedge or a ditch and think that it was probably put there during the festival. So, in answer to your question, I'm still clearing up!
It was the only time that we were open all day and there was such a crowd that many had to stay outside. Those were the days!
Just noticed someone in the picture who died a year or so later. Puts a different spin on it.
Photographs have a habit of sneaking something like that up on you...
