The Wesht of ireland is at it's best in the winter as the sun shines. The sun is low and the shadows are long. You can see every detail in the landscape. The sea looks as if you can jump right in. You can of course with the proper protection. It's a popular time with the surfers too. There is always a big long swell coming out of the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. If the weather is bad it is really and spectacularly bad. Something you would not like to miss. I never understand why visitors come in the summer (boring) and not when the coast is really at its besht.

Hear, hear! (locked ourselves in the house watching rainclouds "eat" the mountain and listening to the wind as it rushes from the bay...)

How I would love to take Trudi the dog for a run along Mulranny Beach!!

Annie, Trudi would love it. Next time you are here she is all yours. I know she would love to spend some time running around with her Auntie Annie!

We were out last night with the full moon! Drove to the Holy Well at Saint Fintan's cemetery at 6.00, admired the moon reflecting in the bay, and thought the white on the mountain tops was the moon reflecting off them - until we woke today and found all mountains covered in a delicate white. Beautiful!
