Those Hardy Annuals...

Although the garden is now ready for the winter, the dahlias are still going strong.

The Dahlias were a great succes. I was never fond of them but that changed. When a child my mother complained once that the Dahlias in her garden were invested with earwigs. I thought the earwigs would find their way into my ears and eat my brain away.
I'm going to put much more Dahlia tubers in the ground next spring. They can go into the ground or in pots in front of the house. Dahlias are susceptible to slugs. Slugs love them. Lots of slug pellets will have to be used to make the Dahlias survive. But in the end they will give a feast of color to the late summer and autumn garden.
