In the meantime most of the wood has gone up in smoke. I couldn't replenish the supply. Mark and Laura warned me that the stack of uncut wood was the nesting space of sparrows. I had not seen sparrows in a long time around the house. You can imagine how glad I was to see them flying in and out of the wood pile.
