Pirate Controversy

On 6 September we reported on the purchase of a stove, which would replace the open fire in the downstairs living room. This resulted in much controversy: the traditionalists argued that nothing beats the sight a hearth full of blazing bogwood; the revisionists value their creature comforts and supported the stove's installation by our good friends Ray and PJ. First reports are positive: the stove provides a great deal of heat and it looks cute too.

The stove looks wonderful but, would look even better with a nice big pot of tea warming on top!

Quite right!!!

The best thing that ever happened to the Polranny House is the installation of this little stove. Not only does it provide constant heat (it does not go out if you feed it a turf bricket or log every so often), it safes on heating oil for the central heating (it's warmth rises to the Study and TV room) and last but not least the closing of the much loved fireplace stops a tremendous draft from racing through the house. Thank you Bert for buying the thing and thanks Ray for making such a good job of installing it.

Hmmm, it doesn't look bad but we'll have to see & feel for ourselves - soon!

Stoves are brilliant, easy to clean and super efficient. No marshmallow toasting though - but who eats marshmallows anymore?

But...marshmallows can still be toasted upstairs in the study!
