A House With History
The house in Polranny is more than a hundred years old, so many people have lived here before the Pirates and their friends. This is Patty Sweeney with an armful of kittens including a princely Siamese. She lived here with her parents, Peter and Margaret, who were teachers in Tonragee National School just down the road.
Many thanks to Patty's son Charles Tyrrell for the use of this photo.

It is the early to mid thirties and Patty is sitting in the windowsill of the kitchen. Forty years later when the Pirates bought the house it still had the same windows. As far as the Pirates know the house in all those years had only three owners: Peter and Margaret Sweeney the teachers, Sweeney Merchant of Achill Sound who rented it to O'Sullivan the Pension Officer and after standing empty for ten years us.
Dear Reader, if you know more about the history of the house and its occupants please leave it in the 'reactie'. Thank you!
Thank you Charles for the beautiful photograph of your mother. She was apparently happy here too, like we are now.
Thanks, Charles! Your photos are wonderful!
Thanks Peti, My Mum has finally made on to the world wide web with a nice tender image from her youth.
Thanks for invite to Polranny. Not sure when I'll be up that way. I would like some day maybe to rent if possible and draw and connect. It's amazing how the house has become so real for me since being there and since being in contact with you and with the access through the pirates blog.
Hope you're well. Charlie
