No sooner had we arrived in Ireland, than we noticed the posters for Pirate friend Noel Scanlon's bestselling 'The Gulf', a thriller set in the Middle East.
Here is the author himself, ably supported by his adorable assistant Lady.

Op Achill heeft Noel uit zijn boek voorgelezen voor een volle zaal. Die 'Reading' was georganiseerd door de Heinrich Böll Stichting. De Duitse schrijver en Nobelprijs winnaar Heinrich Böll had een vakantiehuisje op Achill Island. Hij heeft er over geschreven in Irisches Tagebuch. Na zijn dood heeft zijn zoon een culturele Stichting opgericht. Die stichting is actief in Duitsland, India en Ierland. Ze haalt schrijvers en kunstenaars naar Achill om daar te werken. Ook stimuleert ze lokale kunst en cultuur.
